Chemotherapy & Radiotherapy Environment Appeal
With 1 in 3 people being diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime, it is a disease which affects nearly all families. The Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) opened in 1971 and cares for over 6,500 individuals diagnosed with cancer every year, with up to 1,000 visitors passing through the Centre each day.
Above & Beyond’s CaRE Appeal has pledged £1.6 million to transform the patient and visitor experience at the BHOC. Donations to the centre over the years means that we have already secured £1.5 million of support, but they need to raise the remaining £100,00 by autumn 2010 to make the project a reality.
- Transform the reception area to create a positive, bright and welcoming area for patients and visitors.
- Refurbish the Outpatients Department and increase the number of clinic rooms and quiet areas.
- Re-locate administrative facilities to create more space for patient support services and provide an information centre
- Develop an arts programme to provide a calming and relaxing environment throughout the building
